What to Learn from the Jersey Shore Burglars Who Hit 17 Locations
According to NJ.com, a Freehold man and a Toms River woman were indicted for their roles in the burglaries of 17 businesses throughout Monmouth County earlier last year. Their crime spree started on March 12, 2015 and they were able to burglarize retail locations until April 5.
As we’ve written about in the past, it’s extremely important for members of a community to be proactive and engaged when it comes to preventing burglaries. If there have been multiple burglaries in your area, be extra cautious and share any information that you have with your neighbors, no matter if the crimes have occurred residentially or commercially.
The safety and risk profile of any retail business can be dramatically improved with a comprehensive, professionally installed security system. This is not to say that the businesses that were targeted weren’t properly secured, but one would think that if they all were, the culprits would have been caught a lot sooner.
According to the National Retail Federation, 97% of all retailers surveyed reported being victims of organized retail crime in 2015. That number is simply too big to ignore. Think about it like this, if only three percent of all retailers surveyed weren’t victims of organized retail crime, taking your chances is quite dangerous. According to Electronic Security Association, 90% of convicted burglars said they want to avoid locations with alarm systems.
As NJ.com reported, the pair often stole hundreds of dollars from the cash registers.
Logically speaking, once you factor in the amount of money stolen and the time and energy spent by the business owners dealing with the crime, an investment in a professional security system simply makes sense.
Different businesses will need their security system to accomplish specific tasks, and a professional security system can be customized. Regardless of the size or type of business you have, a professional security company can design a commercial alarm system to meet your exact needs. To adequately protect your employees and your property, your security system must be comprehensive enough to quickly detect burglary threats as well as danger from fire and smoke, carbon monoxide and other environmental emergencies.
Without a system in place, the potential threat to human life or loss of business assets can be devastating. Even small business security systems can be designed to be adaptable, affordable and effective, as well as convenient and easily manageable.
If you’ve been holding off on installing a professional security system in hopes that your business will grow and change in physical size or location, don’t wait, a professional security provider will grow with your business. From smart access control and mapped IP video surveillance to environmental monitoring, any aspect of security can be perfectly tailored to your needs.
